This past week, we were on the hunt for the best lahmacun places in Istanbul with apéro.

🧮 It feels like the end of the world, but on the contrary, everything is going pretty well. Maybe that’s what my brain is having a hard time comprehending.

The autumn cat isn’t looking forward to winter.

I documented this week’s standout exhibitions for Aposto. The picture is an outtake from Deniz Kulaksızoğlu’s exhibition “(Congratulations)” at the OG Gallery.

For apéro at Neolokal, a Michelin-starred restaurant! Watching the operation of such a kitchen was fascinating, to say the least.

I finally found an excuse to use one of my physical lens filters for this scene.

The metamorphoses, II.

There’s this place in Istanbul called Miniatürk, filled with miniature landmarks from around Turkey. It’s truly a magical place. When I came back home with my pictures, I felt I needed to do something different with them; there was too much greenery, so I turned it red. I adore their otherworldly look.

Recently, I’ve started taking on commissions for a publication called Aposto. One of my assignments was to photograph people gathering at Dolmabahçe Palace, where Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the founder of modern Turkey, passed away. At exactly 09:05 in the morning, sirens sounded to mark the moment of mourning. I was there to capture how people commemorated him.

For my first assignment with Aposto’s gastronomy publication, apéro, we visited chef Mustafa Otar’s flat for an interview. He made us an amazing autumn soup (not pictured).

Some buildings need to be held together. In this instance, with a net.

A friend and I were sitting at a bar this evening when I noticed these… parrots just standing there, seemingly drinking milk? The owner asked for money to take pictures of them, but I had no cash. I took the photos anyway; this one is my favourite.

Istanbul or Istanbul

I set myself a route between Fener and Pera and walked that distance for three days to capture the essence of the city. These are two of the things I came across. I also wrote a few paragraphs about my encounters (in Turkish).

🌧️ I thought I was immune to ego hiccups, but now I realise it still needs a bit more taming. I made the past two days miserable for myself, but at least I’ve noticed and am putting a stop to it.
